YouTube has finally rolled out the mini player for desktop browsers. The feature which has been available for the app for sometime now lets users continue watching a video whilst browsing the site.
Think of it as the pop-out player on Facebook that automatically appears on one side of the screen as you scroll through the news feed.
However, unlike Facebook, YouTube’s version does not pop out automatically till you let it.
Now here’s how to enable the mini player.
To use the new feature, hover your mouse pointer below the playing video and select mini player from the icons in the bottom-right corner.
To exit, you can hit the escape key (ESC) on your keyboard or click ‘x’ on the floating mini player.
The Verge describes the feature as “a quality-of-life update for anyone who watches an exorbitant amount of YouTube.”
